What a year it's been! What a decade its been! As we approach the end of 2019 its a chance to reflect and look inward. What kind of a year have you had? What things come up for you? What have your learnt? What gave you joy and happiness? Did you have some major achievements in your life this year? How did you handle it? How do you want to improve or expand on next year?
Its a hectic time of year in December there's a lot of emphasis on giving to others, which breeds a lot of stress in people. There's often the sense of obligation that can be difficult to navigate at times. While I see its still important to be giving of ourselves and nuture the relationships we have, I encourage you all to spend quality time with yourself working on your own connection. Ask yourself, how can I connect more deeply with myself? How can I alter words or thoughts I have to better serve myself?
This past year has been tough. I have had to go very deep within myself to truely understand who I am, what I stand by, what I believe in. I've had to face some difficult circumstances and ask myself some hard hitting questions. Its taught me a lot about myself, to be completely honest, vulnerable and loving.
For me connection isn't necessarily about being with another person! Its about being in nature, breathing, touch, energy, being thankful to still be here and walk this earth, to smell your children, hear the birds sing in the morning, to appreciate objects, feelings and being on your own. The ability to slow down and appreicate what is around us. Ask yourself is there an activity that helps you achieve these deeper connections with yourself?
To find peace, sometimes you have to be willing to lose your connection with people, places and things that create all the noise in your life. Take some time out for your own self connection this month and set goals to incorporate this into your daily practice for 2020.
I look forward to connecting with you all in 2020.
